The People Behind the Work

Our Karigars

Every piece at Furnichrr is made by hand — by craftsmen who have spent their lives learning the art of furniture making. This is who they are.

Master Craftsmen, Local Roots

Our karigars are artisans who grew up in and around Khagaria. Many learned from their fathers and grandfathers. The techniques they use — mortise-and-tenon joinery, hand-cut jali work, brass inlay — are not shortcuts. They are the result of years of practice, passed down through generations.

When you commission a piece from Furnichrr, it is not assembled on a factory line. A karigar sits with the raw wood, studies the grain, and works it into the form you asked for. The time that takes is what makes the difference between furniture that lasts five years and furniture that lasts fifty.

"A piece of wood has its own character. Our job is to understand it and bring out its best."

What Our Karigars Specialise In

The Karigar Difference

Factory furniture is built fast, to a price. Our karigars build to a standard. That means a bed headboard may take two days to carve where a machine could stamp it in two minutes. The difference shows — not just in appearance, but in how the piece ages.

Wood that is hand-worked and hand-finished develops a patina over time that machine-processed wood cannot replicate. Twenty years from now, the sheesham almirah or the teak dining table you buy today will look better than it does now — if it is cared for. That is the karigar's promise.
